Gasfill Limited today announced that it has signed an exclusive worldwide agreement with BG Group to develop and use BG's Homefill technology. Gasfill has been formed by a group of entrepreneurs specifically to launch a range of products based on the Homefill technology.
Homefill is a novel vehicle refuelling appliance (VRA) which allows customers to refuel vehicles using compressed natural gas (CNG) at home. The technology is based on a hydraulic/gas compressor which provides a 'slow filling' facility and is seen as a means of developing a low cost infrastructure for the CNG alternative fuel markets around the world.
Gasfill aims to market a 0.5m3/h unit initially but plan to develop a 2.0m3/h unit for the global market. Norman Leece, Managing Director of Gasfill, has been involved in alternative fuels and CNG refuelling stations for a number of years. He said: "We have always believed that the concept of refuelling at home would help in developing the CNG market. This arrangement with BG enables us to make that dream a reality".
Sean Sutcliffe, BG Group Executive Vice President New Businesses, said: "We are delighted that Gasfill are to take the project forward. We wish them every success and will be watching their progress with interest."
